Members will aware that in late 2021 there were a number of significant legislative amendments to legislation dealing with workplace sexual harassment. These changes implementing most, but not all, of the Respect at Work Inquiry recommendations.

On 12 December 2022 there were further significant changes when the Anti-Discrimination and Human Rights Legislation Amendment (Respect at Work) Act 2022 (the 2022 amendments) received Royal Assent. These amendments included some of the outstanding Respect at Work Inquiry recommendations and other measures.
The changes are significant, and employers should be aware of their implications for Australian workplaces.

This important webinar will cover:

  • the Respect at Work 2021 amendments – a recap;
  • the more recent Respect at Work 2022 amendments:
    – which anti-discrimination and human rights legislation is affected;
    – What are the new protections and measures:
    – Hostile workplace environments – what are they; what protection is afforded to workers; what do employers need to know and what additional measures should be taken;
    – An employer’s/PCBU’s positive duty to eliminate unlawful sex discrimination;
    – Unlawful victimisation – what this means, which legislation is affected

And, as usual, participants will be able to raise any matters of concern for post webinar discussions and consultations with AFEI.
