In March 2009 AFEI filed a submission with the Australian Fair Pay Commission arguing that the AFPC should not increase the minimum wage in its 2009 review scheduled to be payable in October 2009 and that any review should be deferred until there is greater  certainty about economic conditions. In AFEI's view, this is unlikely until early 2010.
