The managing industrial relations course is a unit of competency (BSBWRK509A) in the nationally recognised Diploma of Human Resources Management. The course is designed for Human Resources Managers, team managers or supervisors with responsibility for managing industrial relations or other staff members needing to extend their formal training in this area.This course applies to participants who have a sound theoretical knowledge of human resources management and industrial relations. It includes strategic planning and policy development for industrial relations as well as negotiations, conflict management and dispute resolution.The focus of content considers the variety of human resources competencies required in the daily interaction between management and employees, together with all the subsequent nuances of industrial relations.The various skills involved in industrial relations are covered including negotiation, advocacy, the legal framework, consulting and persuading of all stakeholders.The complexity of employee contracts, awards and agreements, grievance and dispute settlement are all highlighted. The value of a positive workplace and the significance of integrity, ethics, consultation and effective communication are also embraced.

Award
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the completion of the course. A Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment will be issued to those who successfully complete the workplace based project as part of the Diploma of Human Resources Management.
