Diploma of Work Health and Safety BSB51312
WHS specialists, human resource specialists who have responsibility for WHS, or WHS consultants seeking to gain a high level of competence or to formalise their qualifications in WHS.
Prospective students must provide evidence of completion of the core units of the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent. Contact AFEI Training on 02 9264 2000 for assistance.
The Diploma of Work Health and Safety comprises 9 units; 5 core units and 4 electives.
Depending upon existing skills and knowledge of the individual participant, completion of this course may require a time commitment of up to 300 hours, including class attendance.

Learning occurs both off-the-job and on-the-job. There are workplace based projects and assignments that participants complete in their own time. Participants are expected to apply in the workplace what they learn in the course and to be able to demonstrate they meet the competency standards through assessment.
The Diploma of Work Health and Safety will be awarded to those who complete 9 units and assessment projects to meet the requirements at AQF Level 5.
The Diploma of Work Health and Safety will provide training for people who have an interest in or aspire to work as a WHS specialist or WHS manager. The course outcomes for this group will provide for the acquisition of in-depth knowledge in areas of:
- System design and development
- Risk management
- Incident investigation
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Some training course participants may apply for recognition of competencies (skills and knowledge) that they already possess, for the whole course or any part. Participants who receive RPL need not undertake the respective course. Where RPL is granted, the participant is given full equivalent status as participants who successfully complete the course.
To apply for RPL participants must make a formal application. Application forms and information, including RPL fee, are available on request.
