Designed for

Managers, supervisors, team leaders; those aspiring to management positions; and managers wishing to enhance their level of competency.


Diploma of Leadershp and Management comprises 12 units: 4 Core units and 8 Elective units.  Classes may be taken in any order.

Depending upon existing skills and knowledge of the individual participant, completion of this qualification may require a time commitment of up 600 hours, including class attendance.


Learning occurs both off-the-job and on-the-job.  There are workplace based projects and assignments that participants complete in their own time.  Participants are expected to apply in the workplace what they learn in the course and to be able to demonstrate they meet the competency standards through assessment.



The Diploma of Leadership and Management will be awarded to those who complete 12 units and complete assessment projects to meet the requirements at AQF Level 5.


Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the program participants should be able to:

  • Apply management principles that are able to increase workplace productivity at the operational level
  • Translate and develop management concepts into workplace action plans
  • Improve workplace safety
  • Improve team performance and facilitate change
  • Develop and apply strategies to improve business performance


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Some training course participants may apply for recognition of competencies (skills and knowledge) that they already possess, for the whole course or any part.  Participants who receive RPL need not undertake the respective course.  Where RPL is granted, the participant is given full equivalent status as participants who successfully complete the course.
