Business Writing Skills



This course is designed to assist those staff wishing to improve their written skills. This includes, but is not limited to, writing reports, policies, procedures and instructional documents such as manuals. This practical course provides maximum opportunity for the development of skills and applications in document design and presentation.


Who should attend

Any staff member who is responsible for writing and formatting material. This may involve policy, operational procedures, instruction and training documentation.

  • The role of paragraphs and punctuation marks
  • Sentence construction and spelling
  • Tautology and oxymora
  • Discriminatory language
  • Giving the message with graphics
  • Misplaced modifiers

  • Editing and references

Participants should be prepared to engage with other attendees and share their own sample documents and material.


Learning Outcomes

On completion, particpants will have a better understanding of the protocols and structure of the written word in both reports and email correspondence along with the subtle differences of policy and procedure application.



A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the completion of the course.
